Prenatal & Birth

What do our three prenatal appointments look like?

All prenatal appointments are 90 minutes long.

>Intake - 1st Appointment - where we get to know one another & where we ask questions to get you thinking about your birth in ways that you may or may not have thought of yet! This appointment is held in our office.

>Birth Intentions - 2nd Appointment - planning for your birth. This appointment is held in our office.

>Postpartum Planning - 3rd Appointment - planning for when baby arrives. This appointment is held in your home.

Why hire a team of doulas?

We work with a team of 2 doulas for each birth. and we do this for a few reasons…

  • Sustainability. The burn out for birth doulas is real. Splitting an on-call schedule with another doula ensures we can balance our professional and personal lives. This allows us to show up for you fully.

  • You get to know both of your doulas. Every doula has a backup doula (because life happens!) but you don’t always get to meet your backup doula during your pregnancy. During your pregnancy, you will spend time with both of your doulas together and with each doula individually. This is intimate work and knowing the doula that shows up for your birth fosters safety, familiarity, and trust.

  • Experience & expertise. Collectively we bring our own personal experiences to the table, get to learn from one another, and have our areas of expertise to share with our clients.

Where are you located?

Our office is inside The Portland Yoga Project at 449 Forest Ave, Portland, ME 04101.

Can I hire a doula if I’m having a hospital birth?

Yes! We work with clients giving birth in hospitals, at birth centers and in their homes. We are here to support you in the birth that you want, regardless of where that is. Advocacy is a huge part of what we do for our clients and is often most needed in a hospital setting where there are sometimes more options to sift through.
